It’s not often I find a book that I can put down, but “Blood Moon Rising” was one of them. Story that Mark weaves that take our Protagonist from place-to-place in order to fulfill her mission will keep you on the edge of your seat. I can’t wait to start Book 3 in two minutes.
A real difference between this book and others of this genre, is the believability of the character and the violence. Sure they escape from harm in amazing ways, but somehow it just seems doable and consistent with the characters. I really couldn't stop reading, and am anxious too get to the finale. Get this series from the beginning--you won't be disappointed
The book is reality based and not some novel where equipment and personnel appear like magic.
If you like action novels that get you involved and you're not able to put it down, then this series is for you.
I would have given this novel 4.5 but my computer will not allow me to show half stars. I rated this novel that high because the author has linked the first two novels together through his subtle and succinct writing abilities. You are getting a continuos and expanding story as the suspense builds, people on THE LIST are being eliminated, but Beatrix is losing her battle with cancer. It causes me some anxiety , wondering what the last book will bring!
I also like the covers, which remind me of the old Dick Tracy Books.
because you will not go to sleep until you have finished reading it. For Dawson fans, another blisteringly fast sprint through the troubled and unrelenting time-bomb who is Beatrix Rose. I'm certain that final book in the trilogy will lead us into some unanticipated places. For new readers, while any Dawson book will keep you fully engaged, I think that starting with Ghosts, the last John Milton novel and our introduction to Beatrix Rose, is a better place to begin. It provides a richer backstory and some necessary motivation for Beatrix in the subsequent trilogy. I gave the book 4 stars instead of the usual five (for Mr. Dawson) because I would have preferred one novel in which Beatrix is fully realized and her story is related in one story arc. This is just my own idiosyncrasy; I'm just not a "wait till next week" kind of guy.
This is the middle book of the trilogy of Beatrice Rose, super hero, warrior, and loving mother. She is tough, smart and every bit as strong as any male soldier warrior both physically and mentally, maybe even better than all. But unfortunately she is ill and probably won't live to avenge all the people who wronged her and destroyed her family. This character is too good to retire by illness. Beatrice Rose should live on to fight another day and not just to finish her story. She should be in remission and come out of retirement once in awhile to help save the day and give us fans another chance to enjoy her company.
I cannot wait for the third book to come out, but yet apprehensive, because that means the dance will be over. And I do not want that to happen. I want to read more adventures from Beatrice or maybe she will live on through her daughter Isabella who is turning out to be quite a sharp shooter......?
All I can say is that Mark Dawson better not put his pen down. His books are just too addictive!!
The war that started in the book Ghosts, part of Mark Dawson's awesome John Milton series, and got into full force with the first solo Beatrix Rose novel, In Cold Blood, continues wonderfully in this second in the series. Her list of people to make pay for what they did to her and her family is a tad shorter now but, unfortunately for her, that means that those remaining have learned of her intent and are ready for her.
Still, how ready can anyone been when the hunter is one of the best government assassins to come out of Britain in many years, one with tremendous reason for doing what she is doing. If time was not also an enemy, she could make their wait a living hell but she does not have that luxury and so must take risks and that liability is one of the things that makes the book so very, very exciting.
Rose cannot pick her times but she can pick her battles and she does so with great skill. Following her planning and watching her skillfully alter those plans as life necessitates kept me reading without a stop.
It also made me REALLY want to know what happens next. That is some good story-telling.
Mark Dawson has created a heroine who is a cold blooded killer yet has the ability to draw out your sympathy. Dying of cancer, she is on a vengeful quest to kill the six Group 15 members responsible for killing her husband and taking her daughter for ten long years. Reunited with her daughter, and training her in survival techniques, she sets to eliminate these six men one by one before she succumbs to her terminal illness. Read the Beatrix Rose series. You will love it as much or more as the John Milton books.
